Diappearing dog – one mystery solved
Our Newfoundland seems to keep disappearing right before our eyes from our yard – which is 100% fenced in – and then when panic sets in, she mysteriously reappears as though nothing has happened. So today I watched her every move and twice she still disappeared and reappeared. Literally, one second she is there the next – NOT. And since I know I am not losing my mind – no feedback needed on that – I am determined to find the logical way this is happening.
The latest time she disappeared I sent my husband into the neighborhood to look for her while I tried to watch 360 degrees of our yard like a hawk. Big surprise – she just all of a sudden reappeared two feet in front of me. At least I was closer to finding her method. Turns out there is a spot in the corner of the yard (who knew) where there is a gap between posts that is literally only about 4-5 inches wide. We have had eight dogs while living in this house and never had this type of stuff happen. But apparently she is squeezing in and out of that tiny opening. Talk about logic – how does a newfoundland (albeit a small one – but still at least 70 pounds) squeeze her body and all that massive amount of hair through this tiny opening! That is a mystery I can’t answer – but in the meantime we have plugged up that gap and hopefully will be able to contain her.
