My day off
I had today (Wednesday) off from work and although I have absolutely one million necessary things to do and probably just as many things that I want to do – I ended up doing not much of anything. I did some laundry, took the kids thrift store hunting – scored an awesome rolltop desk for $7.50 to refinish – bought another (like she needed it) dress for Sephora and asked Anthony what he wanted. He desperately wanted Heelys and I really don’t want him to have them but I pursue a used pair constantly and hope I never find them! But if I do, I have committed to buying them so if I don’t find them – I am not fibbing. Anyway – since he couldn’t get Heelys he got his next best thing – a navy blue Aldi’s sweatshirt! Of all the sweatshirts he sorted through that were so awesomely cool – he thought it was more cool to have that Aldi’s sweatshirt so he could role play being an Aldi’s employee. Clearly my couponing, thrifting and discount shopping is skewing the way my children view the world. But whatever, he is happy. Then we came home, dropped off the desk and went to the movies to see Rio – really cute movie especially if you have been exposed to the Angry Birds games. The rest of the day included looking at campers which we didn’t intend to buy since we have an awesome one – well, who knows where that story will end – coming home and losing a dog from her jumping the fence so we spent some time chasing her – putting the kids to bed and then back onto the computer. Since I am still (yes still) sick it was nice to have a mindless day with no strenuous activities. I can’t afford for that to happen to often but I am thankful that I had that opportunity today.
