The bedroom redo
I must confess that I am no interior decorator. All those beautiful elaborate homes you see online – not mine. My house is very lived in and I don’t waste my time worrying about museum quality living. I only learned to sew a year ago but have been on a sewing frenzy since. I find it very relaxing. I do get sidetracked with other projects but sewing is still my favorite. Although I enjoy crocheting I seldom do it now because it just seems to take so much longer to reach a goal than sewing does. Anyway – this is the big bedroom redo. The fabric is from Affordable Fabrics – thank God for them because if I had to pay full price for fabric all the time I would never get anything done. I made a bedspread, pillow covers and curtains. I wasn’t too fond of the pattern at first but I wanted to have curtains that would keep the room on the darker side and my husband didn’t want it to be too girly. I think I achieved the middle ground. But the added bonus is that this fabric is sooooo soft I hate getting out of bed in the morning. My pillow is like a cloud built for my head. So perfectly suited for me.
Here you go…
Just another note – that ugly wallpaper – not my choice. There are many things that we didn’t know about when we bought our house and the walls are one. We didn’t realize the walls were built out of plaster – plaster with horse hair. Just for information – I am deathly allergic to horsehair. I can’t even hang a photo on these walls without getting sick – my husband has to do it. So to change the wallpaper, we would need to strip the walls, gut them and rebuild with sheetrock. And the whole time I could not live here. So we live with it until some point in the future when we move out and rent it. Just another set of questions we know to ask the next time we purchase a home. Our next home may not be until the kids are grown and it may end up being a mobile home – that would certainly solve that dilemma now wouldn’t it.
