Old shirt new shirt
I have been looking for some blouses FOREVER. I know I need new clothes – but – I am worse than my kids in that area. I don’t like certain fabrics, I don’t like certain lengths, I don’t like certain kinds of sleeves – the list goes on and on. Finally, I was fed up and decided – why not just make myself some blouses? I make clothes for my daughter all the time – how hard can it be.
Here is what I did – I took one of my blouses in the style I like but I never wear this one. As much as I am short of blouses in my wardrobe – I cut this one right up! My kids nearly had a stroke!
I cut the shirt apart along every seam. Then I laid each piece on my fabric of choice and cut all around it allowing for about 1/4 inch seam. I did have a problem with the neckline so I will have to figure out how to fix it tomorrow. But all in all, the blouse fits me perfectly. I add handmade bias trim to the neckline, sleeves and bottom hem. I think it is the bias that messed up the neckline but the trim looks great on the other areas. I am sure I can figure out some way to fix it tomorrow.
Who knows – this blouse may make it into the office at some point.
