I wonder how I can change this into using plastic supplies, instead of glass and terra cotta pots and plates. I’m thinking of making something like this for a family with four rough and tumble boys, so I think the glass and plates would break in the first few days. Any ideas?

  3. Interesting question. I suppose just trying to come up with something off the top of my head – the proportions would be very different. But I would probably purchase an empty paint can at home depot or lowes with the same premise – use the cover for the top and attach a knob. Then I would use a plastic container from something like Kraft Mayonnaise (something with a wide mouth). Then decorate it all.

This is so awesome. I would have to also look into plastic options if I make this for my nieces and nephews. I have to look into it. I wonder how safe the plastic from these fishbowls are to put candy in them. I know you can get plastic planters and maybe use an old metal lid from a pot.
