Keeping the Kids Busy
My kids have been sneaking my spray paint lately to try and paint anything they can. This morning I took them to Lowes and bought primer (Valspar spray) and Valspar spray paint to let them paint our picnic tables. I build these tables twenty years ago and they show every bit of their age. AND I got so carried away back then that they are totally huge – One is twelve feet long and the other sixteen feet. My son decided to paint “his” brown and my daughter chose “berry”. I can tell you up front I didn’t buy nearly enough paint or primer – this was a costly set of projects. But they managed to complete the important parts of the tables. This is them – and part of my reasoning was to have them do so much spray painting it will not seem like such a treat for them anymore. They stuck with it for many more HOURS than I thought they would. I did finish up until all the paint was gone but not til they begged for me to take over… They are so proud of their accomplishments and I am so happy that I doubt they will be sneaking my paint any time in the near future.
Total cost for this set of projects – 10 cans of primer, 4 cans of Berry and 4 cans of Brown and still not nearly enough paint or primer. But – way better than these tables have looked any time in the lifetime of my youngest children!
