Update on our resident skunk
We have a resident skunk who has a den somewhere in our yard. A skunk can spray up to seven times (consecutively), then they really can’t spray for 10 days or so. I just finished saying last night that he hasn’t been around (based on smell) for about 10 days so we need to keep our eyes open. Xena has already been sprayed four times this summer.
It is rare that my husband lets the dogs out late at night – that is usually my role. But he did it tonight. He placed Chewbacca in the kennel (she is in heat and must be separated) and heard what sounded like water spraying. He took his little flashlight and shined it in the kennel, then in the igloo inside the kennel. Well that crazy skunk was inside the kennel with our dog and the skunk was in the igloo. Fortunately, it was Chewbacca in the kennel because she has no hunting instincts whatsoever. My husband was able (thank God) to get Chew out of the kennel without the smell factor and he left the kennel gate open so hopefully the skunk would let himself out.
Now we still have two other dogs that need to go out… That will be interesting to say the least.
