Crutch cap tutorial
I have had a constant need to make crutch caps – in my adult life I have spent years (if you add it all up) on crutches. I have not been on them much more recently but it is inevitable that I will need to use them again at some point. I make crutch caps for crutches to serve two purposes – first and foremost, the rubber arm pads HURT! That never gets any better so crutch caps at least eliminate all that “burning”. Secondly, if I have to spend that much time on crutches I at least want them to be somewhat fashionable.
But for this tutorial, I made them for a co-worker who ended up on crutches. I did not make the more elaborate version because hopefully she will only be on them for a very short period and I was very short on time. But these absolutely serve the purpose. Eventually I will circle back and post a tutorial for the more elaborate version.

Very nice idea!
What a great idea! And pretty too! I needed the crutch caps last year when I broke my foot! I’m a new follower!
I love the fabric you chose. Good job I love it. Thank you so much sharing and for linking up to our party Show and Share this week! Come on back this Wednesday to link up your current projects.

So I’ve been sewing these covers for the tops and handles for my crutches since yesterday afternoon… All by hand, which I don’t mind at all! I’m very proud of my stitching, but this would have saved me so much time! It’s a great design and very very easy to make and keep clean! I’m definitely making some like them! Thank you!
