Sleeping bags for kids
Whenever we go to the camper and my daughter needs to take a nap (well she always needs a nap – we just don’t always get a chance for her to have one) – she and I lay down together in my bed and inevitably mommy falls asleep first. As soon as I fall asleep, she takes my husband’s body pillow out of his case and climbs in the case, using it as a sleeping bag. She likes it because it is just wide enough for her body and she likes the snuggly feeling.
So why not just make her a sleeping bag of her own so she can stop stripping the body pillow. She chose the fabric – CareBears. I used pastel blue fleece as the liner. The blue matches her fabric choice but I was also making a sleeping bag for my son and I still used the pastel blue. That is what happens when you can get fleece for $1.99 yard – you buy a large amount and that gets used for everything you can!
I made hers differently because she wanted hers to snuggle her body – and she is smaller. So I hemmed the CareBears fabric all the way around, sewed on the fleece liner and there you go. She likes hers to fit more like a mermaid outfit…
