Quick and Easy Halloween Cake
When our family just consisted of two kids I would make birthday cakes with the full blown decorating process. Then child number three was here – I had to let go of some things. Then four and five… The rest is history. I have learned to cut corners wherever I can if it will not impact the quality of life for my family or compromise any type of relationship with my family. Cakes are easy.
First – you buy a cake that is a day old cake. Do I really care if it is one day old? Not really. This cake was $5 (half off). If the frosting is not a color I can work with I strip the decorations off and decorate with my own flair. In this case I was fortunate – the cake was a yellow cake with pure white frosting and a simple cherry in the middle. Since no one else in the family likes cherries I was able to eat it. Then I just decorated it very quickly with the spray decorator cans of orange and black icing. I was in such a hurry the letters came out horribly. I was literally rushing out the door to go somewhere and trying to finish my multitasking at the same time. But you get the idea. I spent about three minutes whipping up a Halloween Cake.
The circle in the center was merely because there was already a circle mound of white frosting – the store’s decoration in the center. I just worked around it. I could have removed it but that would have taken a few extra minutes.
