I picked up this CD rack from the thrift store. I have no use for a CD rack but I had an entirely different plan for this. I needed a tie rack for my son. He takes after his dad with his extreme love for ties and has managed to gather quite a collection over the last couple years. His first collection was clip on ties but those are way too small now that he is eleven. Now he is collecting his manly ties. For the record his father (my husband of course) has almost three hundred ties.
This is the CD rack – it is a rack that screws onto the wall – perfect.
This is the rack with his ties and belts on it. His clip on ties are at the top – that section will be just out of his reach but it won’t matter because the clip on ties are much too small. The lower 2/3rds can be easily reached by him and I hung the ties six to a row on every other row. I will say it was a little bit tighter than I hoped but effective just the same. There is plenty of room for his collection to expand and if it gets much larger I will use the bottom 15 rows which I stayed away from because I didn’t want his ties to be laying on the shelf underneath.
In the event you need to do something like this… What I was actually in search of was a wooden shutter and I had planned to remove every other slat, spray paint it and hang it. But I didn’t find that and did find this. I am flexible so I went with it.
The photos are rather dark because we are in the middle of the October 29th NorEaster and we have no power so I am working on this with flashlights!
