Over the top
That describes my craft room. If you were to walk in there in the last month it would like almost like a hoarders haven. Seems in my haste, I do exactly what I tell my kids not to – when you use something put it back in its place. So the drawers were empty (almost) and the fabric was spread out everwhere. I kept telling my husband that I really needed a couple hours to get up there and clean it. It was so bad that I definitely could not go up there and sew – I kept bringing the machine down to the kitchen table. That totally defeats the purpose of having the room.
So finally today I had the opportunity to get up there and clean it all. My husband has been in that room once in three years. Seems he decided to see just how bad it was. He was absolutely speechless! Keep in mind my kids also use the craft room – that wasn’t its intended use, but it is definitely what has been happening.
Not to mention – I cannot throw out a toilet paper tube (gift packaging and decorating), scrap piece of fabric (all sorts of fun things), styrofoam (to make cake pops and stand them up to dry), cardboard (any number of things), frappuccino bottle or jar (storage or gift packaging). Those quickly add up. How can I get rid of them. I NEED them – each and every one. And what about all those patterns? Yes, I did get a great (and I mean great) deal on most of them – but really?… How often do I use a pattern? I can’t stand cutting out a pattern and having it be so precise. But, I won’t part with even one of them.
In the end – some things had to go and I reluctantly chose two giant trash bags of fabric scraps as the doomed items. Don’t fret – I still have three drawers worth. Even my husband was saddened by the departure. But the room is a tiny room and there at least needs to be room for me in it.
