Dollar Store personalized dishes
This is one of my favorite projects because it allows for so much of my children’s personalities to shine through.
First, you purchase some dishes from the dollar store. I have used white, colored or some with designs – makes no difference. Whatever your passion is. You can choose, dishes, bowls, mugs, platters or whatever.
You then need a Porcelain Marker – they come in many colors. The only place I have been able to find them is Michaels Crafts. I assume AC Moore would also have them but I don’t have one of those chain stores near me. Don’t even waste your time searching the store for them – simply ask someone who works there or you will spend forever running in circles trying to locate them. They sell for $3.99-$4.99 but you will get a TON of dishes out of each marker.
The dishes are usable and can be eaten on or drank out of – as long as you follow the directions.
Draw your design or whatever you want on your items. Let the paint dry for about 24 hours. Then you “bake” them in the oven on 300 – 325 degrees Farenheit for 35 minutes.
Then they are able to be used however you choose to.
