  1. it is 5 am and i am sitting her with tears literally streaming down my face — you can hear my heart cracking in half. i know the pain through my eyes and my children’s eyes — it is a pure love we have for these precious and loving souls — they are there for us through thick and thin — though happy times and sad and each and every day they love us for who we are…flaws and all…the pain of their loss can not even be described. Now I am not playing “God” I would never do that but maybe you could tell her

Hi there my sweet child. I want you to know that Smoke is so very happy (he has new wings you know) he can now run through the clouds and fly too! I have to tell you though he tells me about all the wonderful memories he has of you and your family…he misses you very much but he knows that someday you will both be together again. So for now he spends his day playing with his friends…snacking on yummy treats…his favorite is a peanut butter sundae! He hears your prayers and he knows how much you miss him but he doesn’t want you to be sad. He just came by this moment and gave me a kiss and asked me to give it to you. Know that he is happy and loved and in good hands till you meet again. He loves you dearly and so do I. Anytime you want to see him, look into your heart because that is where he lives forever.

bless you and your family and we will be lighting a little candle for Smoke tonight just to say hi.

    hugs to you and yours

  2. Thank you so much. I picked up a notepad at Staples last night and the cover says something like “Trust in the Lord”. I plan to write something from “God” in the inside cover (and if you don’t mind using some of your wording) – I wanted to get a notepad so she could write her letters, all in one place, because God will see them in that special place. He cannot respond to each and every letter but if she writes them in this special notepad – he will see it and share whatever she writes with her loved ones. I will give it a few days then have it delivered to her. Sephora has such a unique perspective on so many things and it really causes me to step back OFTEN. Thanks for taking the time and for your suggestions. I truly appreciate them.

You can tell her that smoke and the others can give her updates in her dreams. They are busy playing and sniffing and meeting other much loved dogs up there.

  4. That is cute – and I have no doubt she dreams about Smoke (Dusty,Captain,Cricket and even the dalmatian we had – Garth). She speaks of them all often.

  11. Hi Athena,

I’m so sorry to hear about Smoke. Your daughter’s letter to God broke my heart and gave me a big old warm fuzzy at the same time. We’ve lost beloved members of our furry family and it’s never an easy thing, but I’m in the same camp that she is when it comes to believing that “all dogs go to heaven”.

Thanks so much for stopping by and following through the Linky hop. I’m here, happily following back. Great to meet you!
