Glow Jar
We save every jar we come across and can always come up with a use for it.
Additionally, we always have a ton of glow sticks on hand due to all the camping we do.
And… being what my kids call – a craft person – we always have glitter around (ugh – I hate glitter but it is an essential evil with kids).
Mix them all together and you get this…
Clean your jar and use something like Goo Be Gone to remove all traces of the labels.
Put a bunch of glitter in the jar.
Crack open some glow sticks – then cut them open and dump the contents into the jar. We used small glow sticks so each jar has two.
This is the result:
Can’t wait to go camping and we can set these up on the picnic table. And if we do the same thing but with plastic water bottles – the kids will have a much larger glow stick for walking around the campground.
What fun, perhaps this is a DIY project that I could do with my grandkids. Thanks for the tutorial.
I Love this! My son would just adore this idea,t hank you for sharing. Enjoy your week.
How long does the glow last? Do you crack the sticks to activate the glow goo BEFORE you open them and pour it into the jar? Is the jar filled with water as well, or just empty but for the goo and glitter?
how do you dispose of the jars after they have stopped glowing?
We use each jar for about two weeks – just add the contents of another glow stick nightly. After two weeks I just rinse them out and throw them out or save them for some other craft – I would never put food in them because I cannot always get all the glitter out.
do you put water in the bottle as well?
