Do You Need a Hoodie?
Sephora has a field trip tomorrow and she was insisting she needed a “hoodie” to wear and all of hers were in the wash (not that she has many). So do I do laundry or solve the problem some other way?
I naturally went with “some other way”. I figured I could come up with some solution with all the fabric and scraps that I have.
I took this shirt that fits her…
I used the bottom hem edge as the bottom of the hood – to be sewn to the inside of the base shirt. I cut a hood shape through both layers using the right hand side seam as a pre-sewn seam. One less to sew.
I opened it up and sewed a hem all the way around then with right sides together I sewed the top of the hood together. Lastly, once the hood was finished I pinned then sewed the hood to the inside of the shirt. I matched up the center of each first then pinned forward to the front. (Yes I used white thread – she likes the thread to be a contrasting color).
This took about ten minutes. Way less time than doing a load of laundry and folding it. Of course my laundry still needs to be done… I really need a laundry elf!
And after her field trip…
As you can see the hoodie served its purpose. It gave her just enough of a barrier for her ears against the breeze.
