A new dog bed for Chewy…
Having a Newfoundland and English Mastiff present some challenges. They are now two years old and still continue to rip any and every pillow apart. Chewbacca has knee problems already at the age of two so I am determined to find some answer to make her more comfortable.
Chewy sleeps in a crate – an extremely large crate! And the plastic base is starting to crack. I don’t want her to get pinched so that is my immediate concern.
I purchased three towels. Two lavender and one yellow. The lavender towels were the exterior and the yellow was sewn inside to provide extra thickness. First I cut off about two inches from every side of the yellow towel. I then sewed it to one lavender towel. Once that was sewn together I sewed the 2nd lavender towel – essentially sandwiching the yellow towel between the two.
Now Chewbacca has a thick cushion of towels. I am hoping Chewbacca will not be interested in ripping it apart since there is no stuffing within it. Time will tell. If it survives, I will make a 2nd one for Xena.
It is wicked thick and cushiony. In fact it would make an awesome bathmat if it was smaller.
