5 Of My Passions in Life
A List of Five (or so)
ONE – When I think about my passions of course the very top of the list is God, family and pets. All of the living relationships around me. Although that is several different categories I am counting them as 1. I almost didn’t count them at all because as far as I am concerned – that is a “given”. But just to be safe, so you don’t think I am not passionate about these – I am including them.
TWO – I am passionate about my blog. Not because it is a job or I make money – because I seriously make so little it isn’t worth counting. It is my passion because I truly pour my heart and soul into it. Even if not one person besides me ever looked at it – I would probably still do it. There is something about memorializing our family’s journey in a blog. I feel like I am making a difference. Even if I am not making a difference today – maybe I will decades from now. At the very least I have taught you all how to easily remove skunk odors when you get sprayed!
THREE – I am passionate about my photography. I am not a photographer and I know so very little about my camera. But without it I would feel lost. I can live without ever seeing a video but nice still photos capture the intimate expressions in the eyes; allows me to notice that tiny grasshopper hiding on the ground; allows me to notice colors I may not have otherwise paid attention to; allows me to create emotion through colors, expressions, backgrounds etc…
FOUR – I am passionate about sewing. I love to create things. I am not a seamstress though. I like to create without patterns. If my kids want a hoodie – no big deal – I whip one up by adding a hood to an existing garment. It is the designing, creating and upcycling that fuels my passion. Sitting down with a pattern with precise cuts and perfection is not for me. There will never be another item exactly like what I create – that makes me very happy. My kids no longer ask me to take them to the store for a shirt (though I do – I definitely don’t sew all their clothing). They simply ask how much longer they are going to have to wait for a new pair of pajamas…
FIVE – I am passionate about certain causes. I fight against child abuse and animal abuse; I fight against modern day slavery; I (and my family) do all we can do to support local families/organizations through couponing and deals; I try to find homes for rescued animals; and I am a huge supporter of adoption, especially of children with special needs.
