On the Road to Better Health With Juicing and Healthy Snacks
Have you seen any of those films about all the food that is killing you? You know the ones – “Food, Inc.”, “The Truth About Your Food”, “Food Matters”, “When Food Kills”…. Ever since seeing these films I have wanted to get to a point where I eat “better” and healthier. Those movies are quite scary – if you haven’t seen them you should. It is alarming what the food industry is able to hide from us.
One thing I have been wanting to try is juicing. I have always loved raw food diets – they just take so much time to pre-plan and prepare. In my extremely busy and extremely hectic life that is not possible often.
Plus – I kept thinking I would save up for a really nice juicer. But priorities always come up and I can’t say I have even come close to achieving that goal. But I do have a vitamix. So here is my plan – I will juice the best I can with the Vitamix THEN if I stick with it for any reasonable period of time I will make saving for my juicer more of a priority or that will be the only item on my Christmas list.
Today I purchased all kinds of fruits and vegetables and here is my first “go”. I am going to try and photograph my concoctions so I know exactly what I did if I wish to recreate it.
My next biggest problem is that I really cannot stand the thought of drinking something green. All those juices that are supposed to be so good for us – GREEN. It is one of my favorite colors but not necessarily in the form of a drink.
So I put all those excuses aside – put my big girls’ pants on and here I am…
I don’t plan to juice exclusively but anything more than none is far better than where I am right now.
Now I know I will not survive on juice alone. So what else will I do? I will supplement with tasty, healthy snacks such as snackwarehouse east shore pretzels.
