Product Review and Giveaway – Newman’s Own Organics Pet Food and Snacks
I am always interested in healthy eating options for our family and that philosophy is no different for our pets. We have five dogs (and two beta fish) and that is alot of food! The dog we struggle the most with is our English Mastiff. She has so many joint issues that her diet is critical to her comfort and ability to get around relatively comfortably. We also need to keep her from becoming overweight so there is no additional stress on her joints.
Additionally the dogs are two giant breed dogs; one large breed dogs and two small dogs. Snacks are very critical to our daily activities and the quality of those snacks is just as critical as the pet food.
I have always loved Newman’s Own products and they have since spun off another division Newman’s Own Organics! This new division was launched in 1993 by Paul Newman’s daughter, Nell. In 2001, NOO (Newman’s Own Organics) became a full business of its own.
Certified organic by Oregon Tilth. Ingredients have been grown on farms that have not used artificial fertilizers or pesticides for three years or more. The farms and processors have been certified by an independent third party. Kosher certification by Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, 333 Seventh Avenue, New York.
I live right down the road (several miles) from the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. Paul Newman and Newman’s named products have always been a major staple in our area. Who wouldn’t want to support such a program? And, the human and pet food is really good and NOO – so healthy and much better for you.
I was so fortunate to have been sent a huge box of Newman’s Own Organic pet products. They are all great!! Dry dog food, canned dog food, chicken and rice treats and peanut butter treats.
Check out the specifics of the dry dog food: IDEAL PROTEIN-FAT RATIO to support the nutritional needs of Adult Dogs.
- Made with organic brown rice, peas and carrots
- Free of added hormones, antibiotics and chemical additives
- No artificial colors or flavor enhancers
- No wheat or corn
See the last bullet – no wheat or corn!! Do you know what wheat and corn can do to a dog with joint issues! As a human with joint issues I can tell you exactly what it does – soreness, swelling, achiness, less flexibility, exhaustion and more. It is no different for a dog. And many dogs are actually allergic to wheat. We used to raise Weimaraners and one of them was allergic to wheat. It took us forever to figure it out and it was a severe allergy. And diet is extremely important for Extra Large Breed dogs. I have seen some XL dogs that have not had appropriate nutrition and they ended up with physical defects.
