Is This on Your Child’s Christmas List?
Every little girl wants an Easy Bake Oven at some point in their childhood. Problem with them is the price for the refill mixes and they are almost always sold out. How frustrating – especially when your child is desperate to make a cake.
We have had several of these in our house (and of course I grew up with one). At least three different models that I can remember.
Here is an important TIP that I learned along the way – do not buy the refill mixes!!! EVER!!
There are so many other options.
The quickest, cheapest, easiest is the Jiffy baking mixes in the regular baking aisle of the grocery store. You can also use any other store bought cake mix, brownie mix, bread mix – 3 Tablespoons of mix with 1 Tablespoon of milk.
Your child can make pizza – just use the store bought cookie dough. Spread a tiny piece (you can make a full size pizza with the rest) and spread it as thin as you can – add a thin layer of toppings and cook.
Make a quesadilla – small piece of tortilla, top with cheese and another tortilla piece – cook.
There are so many other recipes out there that you can also make from scratch – candies, fudge, cookies etc… Check out Pinterest, do a google search, or just plain old get creative.
Often what we did was whatever I was cooking – I would put a tiny bit aside for my kids to cook. Of course it was something that really needed to be watched I would cook it enough that the Easy Bake Oven could easily finish cooking it the rest of the way.
Hope this helps – do not waste your money or time on the premade mixes for the Easy Bake Oven. First of all those packages do not taste good at all! They are too overpriced! And impossible to find!
