Night of the Candy Creepers by Donna Davies and Rob Peters
Not quite realizing you’re in for a fright.
The candy creepers have come to town,
And they are going to gobble your candy down.
The candy creepers are masters of disguise, but boy are they in for a big surprise.
A fun Halloween book sure to bring back fond childhood memories with a surprise ending!
Delightfully illustrated by Rob Peters.
Ms. Davies’ first picture book for children, The Halloween Queen Who Lost Her Scream, thrilled audiences from 6 to 60 upon its release last October and earned her numerous opportunities to present the book at libraries across the region.
In the 3rd quarter of 2012, she plans to release her second children’s book, Sleepy Hollow and the Road You’d Better Not Follow through her publishing company All Hallows Eve Press.
Inspired by Washington Irving’s 1820 short story, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” and her personal experiences in the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery one fall evening, Davies’ new book is a rhyming story from the heart. “The Headless Horseman has always been my favorite Halloween hero; he isn’t bad, just a little scary when confronted. After noticing that few children’s books touched on his tale, I decided to rectify that,” she explains with a grin fit for a jack-o-lantern.
A staunch supporter of local libraries and historical societies, Ms. Davies is an active member of the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery Historic Fund and curates Hudson Valley Halloween Magazine as an “en-spook-lopedia” of all things grim and ghoulish in the area.
Rob also draws the online comic book Crazy Cal Presents at www.crazycal.com. He currently lives with his wife in Topeka, KS.
