This is an awesome game. Essentially there is a wheel (pictured above) with the letters of the alphabet. Included is a deck of cards with categories on them. They are double sided – one side is a little easier for the younger players and the other side is a little more difficult for the older players. Not that it matters because I can tell you – after a couple categories of play, when letters are no longer available, the game becomes quite a challenge. A category card is flipped and the players need to quickly think of a word that goes with that category. The word must begin with one of the available letters – while saying the word, press down the letter. Which then of course reduces the number of letters available for the next category selected and makes it even more difficult to think of a word. The example in the photo above shows a category option of Pizza Toppings. Simply come up with a one word response that begins with a letter – one of the available letters – and press it down. So if you wanted to play “sausage” as a response and the “s” was not available you would have to come up with a topping whose first letter is available – perhaps pepperoni, hamburg, cheese etc… That all sound completely easy – until you are rattled by the 10 second timer and the letter(s) you need is no longer available.
This is a fun game for all ages and a round of play is very quick. My daughter (9) and I tend to be the game players in the house so we play this a little differently. There are two categories on each side of each card. When we flip a category card, we both play at the same time. In the photo above I would have to come up with a pizza topping and she would need to come up with cartoons. So we are both competing in the same 10 second time frame and both sometimes trying for the same letter. It is quite exciting.
And today this is the perfect game for my daughter to bring to school for indoor recess since it is raining outside. Every child will be wanting to play that game for sure.
I definitely recommend purchasing Tapple for your family game night, vacations, rainy days or just plain old whenever you want to spend quality time together.
And USAOpoly has offered to give a lucky TSOS reader their very own game of Tapple! Must be 18 to enter.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
