Cascade Falls in Saco Maine

Cascade Falls is in Saco Maine and a great place to spend a few hours.  There are two routes to investigate – the first takes you all the way down to the bottom of the falls and you can walk along the stream and potentially cross in a couple places if the water level is low.  The other path takes to you the top of the falls for an entirely different perspective.  Along the side of the falls a cable has been strung to help insure you don’t lose your footing down the sloping landscape.  Bill was able to cross the falls by holding onto a major tree that had come down – and even Sephora braved it for a little bit with the help of dad.  For the most part it was a messy trek.  We all ended up muddy and wet and as we were coming down this fella came up and he clearly had fallen somewhere…  I’ll bet he was able to get some nice shots though.  I am not sure why but the water is a deep rusty brown color – it doesn’t look like muddy water but it is a color that I have not seen anywhere in my travels.

I can’t believe we have been spending time in Scarborough Maine for more than five years and never found this hidden jewel.  We only found it because the day before we were driving that way and happened to notice the sign.
