Back To School Survival Guide & $25 Arch Card Giveaway

This is a sponsored post with TapInfluence and McDonald’s.

Back to School season is finally here. The kids have new clothes, fresh perspectives and in my son’s case even a new school. There is so much excitement in the air and I just love to watch them growing up and beginning a new year. With the start of school comes the beginning of many other cycles – Sunday school, piano lessons, guitar lessons, Friday night get-togethers, family game nights, movie nights and more. So much to do at all times. Life becomes very full from sun up to sun down and McDonald’s has the perfect way to deal with meals on the run or whenever else our schedules are so tight. For just $2.99 for a Happy Meal the kids can get a simple lunch or dinner.

How do we survive Back to School chaos? For starters I have some help come in during the day to take care of the dogs. That makes it so much less of a crisis to give them attention the second we walk in the door. Another tip is to review their folders/documents/homework and more the night before as well as plan for the following day’s needs such as clothing, breakfast, lunch etc… Otherwise our mornings are totally a mess. I must lay it all out at night before going to bed. And my final tip – give the children their own personal space for school items. That could be a cubby, closet, locker or something similar. Some place they can hang their backpack, put the jacket for the next day, instruments, athletic equipment or anything else they need the next day.

Each McDonald’s Happy Meal provides wholesome options such as Apple Slices and Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry yogurt. At 50 calories per serving of tube of yogurt, and with 25 percent less sugar than the leading kids’ yogurt*, Go-GURT Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt also delivers one-quarter cup of low-fat dairy and is a good source of vitamin D and calcium.

Often we will be able to stop at McDonald’s on our way to running somewhere. Other times, because the McDonald Happy Meals please my children and they have options such as the yogurt, apple slices, milk, juice or even soda as a special treat – we will pick up some meals through the drive through and try to unwind by sitting down and enjoying them at our local park. McDonald’s is an industry leader and striving to meet the needs of so many families at an affordable cost. It is a great example of how The Stuff of Success is Living Life Well, Inexpensively. Later this fall, customers can expect to see Cuties clementines from Sun Pacific included as a Happy Meal side as well! My kids freak (happily) each time McDonald’s makes a change or provides additional options for their Happy Meals. Best of all – I have to admit I love their Happy Meals. They are just the right size to meet my needs without so many additional calories – but with so many great o

McDonald’s seeks out key partnerships to make a positive impact on nutrition. After listening to customers, McDonald’s partnered with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and made a Clinton Global Initiative commitment in 2013. This partnership aims to increase access to fruit, veggies and low-fat dairy, and to help families and kids make informed choices. In support of our commitments, this May, McDonald’s USA introduced a new Happy Meal brand character, Happy, who helps celebrate the fun of the iconic Happy Meal while reinforcing the company’s commitment to children’s well-being.

These latest efforts to evolve the McDonald’s Happy Meal will remind families of the fun and happiness of the menu offering, while reaffirming that McDonald’s is a brand that cares about children’s well-being through the food we serve.

My best tip is to get in the rhythm of school a few weeks before it starts 🙂 Getting up early, even making lunches (if that’s what you’ll do during school) just so it’s no big deal when it all starts up. Also, -enjoy- it 🙂 Sometimes it seems like a neverending chore, but you miss the hustle and bustle when the kids are all grown up 🙂

I think the best survival tip is to keep it simple. Scheduling and specifing certain times for certain events can get overwhelming and is impossible to maintain. Keeping a routine, however, is key. Doing things in the same manner and order make getting through the days and nights much easier.

My best back-to-school tip is to set up as much of what you need the night before. Have clothes laid out, backpack loaded and ready to go, and anything you can set up ahead of time for lunch boxes (I don’t like making sandwiches and such the night before, but I can have napkins/plasticware in the lunchboxes plus things like granola bars, etc. packed ahead of time. The less you have to do in the morning, the less you’ll forget to do.

Best tip is to make sure you keep your calendar up! Our kids get so many half days and days off that if I don’t keep them straight between the 2 schools, I would so be in trouble!

My tip is to have a big white board handy somewhere, where everyone can write what their activities are — times and dates — otherwise it’s impossible to keep track of everyone!
