I think the lemon zester cheese grater is a very under appreciated tool.  And as far as flavor goes, citrus zest is an underutilized ingredient.  A zester should be in the kitchen of anyone who cooks more than boxed macaroni and cheese and frozen fish sticks.

I recently had the opportunity of testing out Chef Proven’s Lemon Zester Cheese Grater.  This is definitely on the top end of the grater/zester scale.  You can tell it’s solid by the weight.  The blade is pure stainless steel.  The handle has a soft rubber grip and isn’t loose like some of the ones I’ve tried. This zester/grater has so many wonderful uses.  I always keep a few pieces of citrus fruit in my refrigerator because it gives such a great, light flavor to your cooking.  I use lime in all of my Mexican meals, lemon in fish and pasta dishes and orange in most of my baking (well, more my husband’s baking).  But you can also switch it up.  Try some lime in your baked products and orange in your pasta.  There is no limit to the great citrus combinations.

Chef Proven’s Lemon Zester Cheese Grater has many other uses.  It works great for hard cheeses such as parmesan, romano or asiago.  If you want a little chocolate to add to a dish, but need it finely chopped, this is the way to go. And last but not least….my favorite use for the zester/grater…..ground nutmeg.  I never buy a bottle of ground nutmeg anymore.  Right next to the ground nutmeg you will see a jar of whole nutmeg.  Buy a zester and a bottle of whole nutmeg.  Pull it out any time your recipe calls for ground nutmeg.  And I have learned from Rachel Ray….almost any dish could use a little nutmeg!
