Our 14 year old son has been struggling with acne for some time.  We are all sure (even his doctor) that the majority of the issue stems from the medication he is on.  We can’t do much to change the medication – it is all critical to his well being.  However we can do things to help with the side effects and X Out has come to our rescue.

We have been fighting the acne battle for about two years now with minimal success.  Part of the problem has been that anything we try – he has not liked the smell of – so he definitely will not use it on his face.  Another part of the problem is he is on the autism spectrum so to get him to use anything can be difficult.  If he doesn’t like it the second he is introduced to it – he never will.

He definitely doesn’t mind the smell of the X Out.  It didn’t phase him in the least.  He loves that it isn’t a cream that he is supposed to put on before bed.  What he loves best is that it doesn’t matter where we are running to, he always has time to use this.  This is one of the few things he has been persistent about using.  His acne was so bad that kids were mentioning it to him.  I don’t think they actually picked on him – though he definitely interpreted their comments as such.  But now his confidence level has increased dramatically!

And actually that is not the worst it has ever been.  But the next photo was from our Thanksgiving break during our trip to New Hampshire.  He is much more confident (though he hates to have his picture taken) and looks so much better.  He is almost 100% cleared up.

We are always on the go – We travel across New England like some people drive “downtown”.  It is nothing for us to leave on a Saturday morning, drive somewhere for five hours, get lunch, turnaround and come back.  We can easily spend a weekend in five different states.  Any personal hygiene regimens must fit into that busy lifestyle.  It must be easy to maintain at home, on the road, or even at the beach!  There can be no limits as to the portability otherwise the kids will not stick to the program.

You can just see it on his face – “Seriously mom!” There is just a tiny spot on his head and on his right cheeks.  Fortunately he never picked at them or popped them so there is no scarring.

He has used this product for almost 6 weeks.  My daughter also has started using it recently.  She is almost ten years old and has also started getting blemishes.  She focuses on the wash in treatment and the spot corrector.  She is on similar medication so it is important that I teach her how to take care of her gorgeous skin before it gets too bad.

With three boys and two girls I have found that the girls totally appreciate skin care and good hygiene more.  This one is my youngest and it is all about looking good, curling her hair, braiding her hair, doing her nails etc…  It is funny – even though I wanted X Out for my son, my daughter has now informed him that the rest is hers and she would appreciate him not touching her “girl” stuff.

To make their skin more of a challenge we are constantly in public pools all year long – either the pool at the local town hall or hotels during our travels.  Then 6 months per year we are at the campground where there are four public pools to choose from.  AND for six months a year if we are not in those campground pools – we are at the ocean or traveling from one cliff walk to another.  So many opportunities to end up with damaged skin.
