Do your kids totally love gummies? Most kids do and mine are no different. But I hate store bought gummies and having to worry about what is in them. With special needs children you constantly need to worry about what is in their diet but at the same time I want them to have treats that other kids enjoy.
Making homemade gummies is so easy – in fact my kids can even make this recipe themselves whenever they want. It is totally that easy. There are only three ingredients needed and since one of them is water – I am not sure we should count that one.
Let’s Get Started
I always make a double batch so I will give you that recipe:
6 ounces Flavored Gelatin – not sugar free
2 packages unflavored gelatin
2/3 cup water
…And you need molds – see some ideas below
Add the powders to cold water and mix thoroughly. Once the powder is dissolved, add it to medium heat and keep stirring. I basically keep it over medium heat for about ten minutes.
Remove from heat and fill whatever molds you want to use – here we used monster molds but you can stick with traditional gummie bear molds, star wars molds etc… Here are some links to my favorites!
Add a tiny bit of oil or non stick spray to the molds prior to putting the mixture in. Place molds in the refrigerator for ten minutes. Once you remove the gummies from the molds they can be placed into a container for a couple weeks – they do not need to be refrigerated.
