My husband and I have been married for almost 28 years now. Throughout all of those years one of his specialty dishes has been Sugar Free Apple Pie. He makes them for so many people who are diabetic. We have had apple pies made with sugar and those without – we definitely prefer the ones without. They are so much better and not sour!
He purchases pre-made pie crusts most of the time but you could also make your own. It is entirely up to you and how much time you have. We never seem to have a great deal of time so pre-made crusts it is… We use 3 tablespoons of constarch, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, 1 twelve ounce can of thawed unsweetened apple juice concentrate and about 6-7 apples. For the apples we chose a combination of macintosh and granny smith. We find the combination of the two flavors really enhances the pie.
But – apple pies can make a terrible mess. They bubble over and although they make our home smell awesome – no one likes cleaning the oven.
Thankfully I don’t have a new oven – though I definitely want one. In the meantime, I can keep my oven looking like new with Home True Oven Liners that can catch all the spills and boiled over messes. Yeah – I totally have no desire to be on my hands and knees scrubbing my oven clean. That would make me stay away from making apple pies for sure.
These oven liners come in a long sheet and they are heat resistant up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit (260 degrees Celsius) and are dishwasher-safe. I don’t have a dishwasher but look how easy they are to clean even without a dishwasher! Easy peasy.
All I have to do is cut the liners to the size I am looking for. They are .20mm thick and are coated with a nonstick teflon on both sides. It can be used to line the oven, as a pan liner, as a cookie sheet liner, fridge liner, barbecue grill mat, baking mat, dehydrator sheet and so much more.
