What Is Recreational Marijuana?

Recreational marijuana refers to the use of cannabis for personal enjoyment. Individuals who engage in recreational use do not require a medical prescription or any other authorization to purchase and consume cannabis products. They can purchase and possess as much marijuana as they want without any restrictions on how much they can buy or how much they can possess at any given time.

Types of Recreational Marijuana Use

There are several different ways that individuals can consume recreational marijuana. The most common method involves inhaling smoke from burning dried leaves, buds, or whole flowers. However, there are also edible forms of cannabis that can be consumed orally or through ingestion by way of tinctures and oils. Finally, topical forms of marijuana are available that are applied directly to the skin for localized relief from soreness and inflammation.

How Many States Have Legalized Recreational Marijuana?

The first state to legalize recreational marijuana was Colorado in 2012, followed shortly thereafter by Washington state in 2014. Since then, eight more states have passed laws legalizing the recreational use of cannabis: Alaska (2014), Oregon (2014), California (2016), Massachusetts (2016), Maine (2016), Nevada (2016), plus the District of Columbia (2015). Since these initial states, as of August 2022, 19 states, the District of Columbia and Guam, have legalized the adult use of marijuana.

My Thoughts

I have never been a user of marijuana – until it was legalized. I have found that it relieves arthritic pain far more effectively than any medicines and with no side effects other than sedating. I firmly believe that if something can be improved with marijuana, then why not! Prescription medications have many side effects, and then you need meds for the side effects. It becomes a vicious cycle.

Although many adults with ailments can get a medical card, it is far easier to just go to the dispensary and get what you need. But if you choose to grow your own – you’re in luck. This cookbook has so many amazing recipes that you can make at home! Although we haven’t tried any recipes yet, we sure will!
