This prequel series to the smash hit Hercules: The Legendary Journeys explores the dawn of an ancient age of light and darkness as the half-god, half-man Hercules (Ryan Gosling, The Notebook) — along with his friends, Prince Jason (Chris Conrad, Mortal Kombat Annihilation) and Iolaus (Dean O’Gorman, The Hobbit Trilogy) — struggles to find his place in the world and learns what it means to be a hero.

Executive produced by Sam Raimi and Robert G. Tapert (Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess), Young Hercules aired  on the Fox Kids Network from 1998 to 1999, and was nominated for three Daytime Emmy^® Awards.

I had not even heard of the Young Hercules series but I am so thrilled to have found it.  So far I have watched several episodes and I love them.  I am always interested in anything that is in any way related to mythology (any mythology) so for me this is so entertaining.  I have started watching this with my kids and they also love it.  After watching some of the contemporary films that are out which have really made the world of mythology and half bloods so exciting – it is nice to have this to turn to next.  I have a Greek Goddess first name and our dog’s name is Xena.  It is nice that my children are developing an interest in finding out just what those names stand for.
