So… You Say You Need A Roof Repair Contractor…

So you say you need a roof repair contractor

15 Years ago we bought this huge house…Ugh pretty much says it all.

First we decided add on – up… The plan was to turn the wide open attic space into a third floor apartment.  We got bids and took a second mortgage and thought we did everything right.  And we are very well educated adults with post graduate degrees.  But we were taken for a ride nonetheless.  Now I thought I knew what to watch for.  My parents built a house and got ripped off – I knew not to let that happen.  Guess what – it did.  The contractor left with all the money and a project half finished.  It took us the next five years to save the funds again and finish it a little bit here and there.  15 years later there are still some things that have never been fixed – minor but since we live with it every day it is just not a big deal.  If we ever sell the house – well, we have a little more work to do.

Now, we have a major roof issue and need to invest in some assistance again.  We have literally spent the last year investigating businesses, evaluating experience, requiring licensing and bonding and getting proof, making sure they have adequate insurance, checking professional references, checking credit references and overall reputation.  These steps all sound well and good but after getting burnt with the addition we absolutely did not want to this time.

Our project is basically a deck that sits above a roof – the deck rotted out and rotted out the roof below it.  So both need to be replaced.  If it was one or the other it would be pretty basic.  Apparently the combination of both projects makes it more major and many contractors won’t even touch it.  But it needs to be repaired before the winter snow loads make it a really really huge issue.

We are all set with a contractor now but now I found out about this awesome site called Contractor Connection who could have done a year’s worth of searching for us because they specialize in this work.  To find appropriate services simply input your zip code, select which contractor services you need, answer some questions specific to your needs/project, answer some property location questions, and provide contact information.  From there they take care of the rest.  A qualified contractor will call you within 24 hours, you meet with them, you approve an estimate and then work begins.  You will get a three year workmanship warranty and can track your project’s progress online.

So you can bet next time I am going to contact Contractor Connection for all my construction needs.  I would much rather have them do all the work!  And that 3 year workmanship warranty is HUGE!
