Ballard Partners and Global Nexus: Everything You Need to Know about the New Strategic Alliance

Founded by Brian Ballard in 1998, Ballard Partners has grown from a single office in Tallahassee, Florida, into an internationally known governmental and public affairs firm. From offices across the country and around the globe, it regularly helps some of world’s most well-known brands achieve unparalleled results.

As Ballard Partners has expanded, it has sought out relationships with other like-minded firms with the goal of enhancing its ability to advocate for clients in international markets. Today, the Ballard Global Alliance includes eight partner firms across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia.

In June, Ballard Partners announced the newest member of the Ballard Global Alliance. The third Latin American firm to join the international partnership, Global Nexus is a government relations and public affairs firm headquartered in Mexico City. To better understand what this newfound partnership means for Ballard Partners and its clients, here’s a more detailed look at Global Nexus.

About the Firm

Global Nexus bridges the gap between the disparate worlds of business and policy. Drawing on its deep well of relationships and superior advocacy, the firm prides itself on achieving mutually beneficial outcomes for stakeholders.

Along with Mexico City, Global Nexus maintains offices in Washington, DC. With its international reach and talented team of consultants, it aims to be the premier advisory firm for clients doing business in Latin America and the United States.

A Talented Team

Global Nexus’ experienced consultants stand ready to serve clients across myriad industries. Whether providing government affairs advocacy, legislative or policy monitoring, crisis management, or other important services, the firm has the expertise to empower clients and surpass their expectations.

The Global Nexus team is led by its president and CEO, Rubén Olmos. Since founding the firm in 2013, he has built its reputation in the government relations space, drawing on his more than two decades of experience to benefit clients. He holds an MPA from American University and BA in political science and public administration from Universidad Iberoamericana.

Global Nexus’ vice president, Miren Berganza, came to the firm in 2016 having previously worked for the Mexican government, both in its Tax Administrative Service and its Washington, DC, embassy. A digital and TV advertising sales professional, she also held roles at Turner Broadcasting System. She is the recipient of a BA in international relations from Universidad Iberoamericana and is responsible for heading the firm’s activities in Mexico and parts of Latin America.

Like Berganza, Ana Margarita Martínez came to Global Nexus having worked in Mexico’s Washington, DC, embassy. Her background also includes a role in the Mexican Senate. A senior director at the firm, she holds an MA in development, innovation, and change from the University of Bologna and a BA in international relations from the ITESM Campus Monterrey. She leads Global Nexus’ strategy in northern Mexico.

Rounding out Global Nexus’ leadership team is Alejandro Valez. As a senior director, he leverages expertise as a trade analyst to advise clients on their business dealings across the Americas. He holds an MA in political and public communication from the Universidad Panamericana and a BA in international relations from Universidad Iberoamericana.

Two Partners, Stronger Together

In aligning with Ballard Partners, Global Nexus is well positioned to strengthen its presence in the United States. “This partnership significantly expands our ability to support clients with unparalleled access to major US markets and institutions,” said Olmos in a press statement. As a firm serving clients across Latin America, Global Nexus will also benefit from access to the two other Latin American members of the Ballard Global Alliance: Argentina-based Cefeidas Group and Brazil-based Esfera.

For Ballard Partners, joining with Global Nexus further enhances its international presence and networks of relationships. Along with maintaining offices in Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Saudi Arabia, and Nigeria, Ballard has now forged alliances with public affairs firms in eight countries. The collaboration with Global Nexus specifically gives Ballard Partners a foothold in the Mexican market, as well as bolsters its ability to serve clients across the Western Hemisphere.
