Finishing the End Table #Project
Well, I refinished this end table but I had more trouble with it than I anticipated I would. This is the beginning project – an end table purchased from Goodwill for $7. Looks innocent enough right? So I thought too…I dove in and sanded the piece… Still looking innocent? Not so much. Once I sanded I found that at some point in its life the top must have broken and someone replaced half of it. The mold was the same but the wood is not the same and the grain is entirely different. Sanding it made the differences jump right out. And that bottom right leg – apparently that broke at…

Shimmery Ornament
Have you ever seen the clear empty plastic ball ornaments at the craft stores? I purchased some last year on clearance and chose to decorate them now. I still have a bunch left – but ten of them we chose this option.First you need a strand of the opalescent garland – this was on clearance at a major department store. So we have the garland and the empty ornament – Cut a strip of garland about 8 inches long – then use something to push it all into the ball of the ornament. We used the top part of a pen. Replace the cap and use a strip of ribbon…

Hand and Foot Scrub
I love the new Dawn with Olay Hand Renewal. It is a nice color, smells great and leaves your hands feeling awesome. Since I don’t have a dishwasher and really don’t want one – I love how this keeps my hands feeling really awesome. Now to take this soap to the next level – turn it into a scrub. Simply pour some into a container – approximately 1/3 full. Then slowly add sugar into the soap until it becomes a pink paste. Then simply use on your hands, feet or anything else. I wouldn’t use it as a facial scrub but it works great for hands and feet and leaves…

Quick No-Sew Tshirt Vest
This project takes about two minutes to make – in fact I made two in less than five minutes. They would look so much better in a colored tshirt but I have a ton of blank white tshirts so that is what we used. Not the best photos in the world – we are making lemonades out of lemons with no power. Take a tshirt… Cut from armpit to armpit Once you have a tube – cut a slit about 1/3 of the way across through both layers Cut the opposite end of the tube open so you have a large rectangle with a slit in the middle…

$2 Wreath – Just For Fun
Target has this crazy “food” duct tape on clearance for $1 right now: And they also have these wreath forms in the dollar section: I simply ripped a great number of duct tape strips and wrapped them one at a time, around the wreath form. Then I made a duct tape strip to hang the wreath with. The result? Not the most impressive wreath ever but the kids like it and it adds some color to this crazy ugly brown door!

Fear of the Dark Assistance
My youngest child is extremely afraid of anything and everything at bedtime. You name it – we have tried it. And the solution one night is not the solution that works another night. This solution seems to stand the test of time though as long as it is coupled with other things such as a dream catcher (do not move the dream catcher). We have an old house so there aren’t many outlets in her room – actually there aren’t many anywhere. It drives me crazy. The dollar store has carried glow sticks for over a year now. They carry a wide variety but the ones I care about are…

How To Make A Baton
I am on a bit of a PVC pipe kick right now. There really are so many possibilities with PVC pipe. I just can’t get enough of it. Today’s project is a baton. I had a baton as a little girl but my daughters have never had one. They just don’t seem to be as popular nowadays as they were when I was little. When I was a child every little girl had a baton. You could never go to a parade without seeing twirlers. To make the baton I used a 1/2 PVC pipe – 2 foot length. I simply capped the ends with PVC caps and decorated with…

Hooded towels for the Beach
A couple years ago I made my kids some hooded towels. However, they managed to grow about eight inches in a year so those quickly became too small. This year I have made them brand new ones. First you need a towel the size you wish to have. I purchased two inexpensive bath sheets from Ocean State Job Lot. I purchased on orange sheet (Anthony) and one cream colored (Sephora). Then you need a smaller, hand towel or slightly larger sized towel. Since you only use half of that towel for each hooded towel – I needed to purchase something that could be used with an orange base as well…

A Planter for Meme
Another planter for meme. My daughter and I picked up the inexpensive plastic pots at Walmart in three consecutive sizes. We sent dad out to pick up some flowers. We simply stacked the pots and planted the flowers around the edges. Pardon the dirt prints on the side – I was trying to finish before the storm. I share my projects at some great link parties. You can see them all HERE

Hair Feathers for My Girl…
My daughter is fascinated with her hair lately and things to decorate her hair. We just removed a series of french braids along with her hair wrapping. So today we have moved on to hair feathers. I have never done them before but I believe I am doing it correctly. The feathers come with a little round gasket – like the sort you would use with a crimping tool when making jewelry. So that is exactly how I proceeded. This little gasket has rubber lining to hold the hair. I pulled some of Sephora’s hair through the gasket; then I fed the bound end of the feather through that same…
