Equine Supplement Bucket to Trick or Treating Bucket
My kids actually go trick or treating several times each year. We own a camper so we camp seasonally and the season includes two early October Trick or Treating weekends. By the time actual Halloween comes along it is pretty much a non-event. Since they trick or treat three times at least, it is pretty inevitable that at least one of those days will be raining. Last year, all three days were raining and any candy they did get that wasn’t eaten on that first night had to be thrown out. It was all soak and wet right through the bag and through the candy. This year we are planning…

From Bunkbed to a Teenage Girl Bed
My daughter is finally a teenager. Actually, she has been for a couple months now. Her room however, is a disaster. Not only is it so full, cluttered and messy – it still has so much from when she was much younger. This week is April vacation week and I was determined to make her room a priority. Next my craft room! But for now the focus is on her room. Not only am I cleaning it out but I am working to make it a room that a teenager can be proud of and hopefully want to take care of. She had a bunk bed – the same bunk…

TShirt Scarf Project
One of the easiest ways to make a circular scarf is through tshirts – those without designs on them. You can make them any color, combine colors, wider scarfs, narrower scarfs, multiple layered scarfs etc… This particular one is actually two strips of the same color with staggered lengths. To make one of these scarfs you just need a tshirt – any color you want – without any type of print on it. You cut off the bottom sewn hem (don’t throw that away – there is a use for everything). Then (in this picture I used a man’s 2X size shirt – I will tell you why in…

Simple Dollar Store Wreath – $3 (Actually $1.66)
Another dollar store decoration. Technically this didn’t cost $3 because there is a great deal of ribbon left – enough for two more wreaths so technically it cost about $1.66. I’m just sayin’…Simply purchase a wreath form from the dollar store – two wide ribbons that grab your attention. I used a gold ribbon and a clear white ribbon with blue/glitter snowflakes on it. As I wrapped the ribbon around – one pattern at a time – I glued it on the back through each rotation. Then used a third type of ribbon to use it to hang on the door. I seriously could spend all day in the dollar store “thinkin’…

Dollar Store Holiday Door Decoration
This was a really easy project and just $3. I would love to say I came up with the idea all by myself but the idea began with HERE and I made some modifications. So if you would like a second idea, check that one out. This project was entirely from Dollar Tree with the exception of the ribbon which I had on hand. But if you need ribbon – you can get that at Dollar Tree too. The first layer is a large felt ornament. The second layer is a plastic snowflake star shaped ornament. The top layer is a door knocker with some bells. Simply use a…

How I Keep Comfy Cozy Warm and Toasty
I am always cold. For years I had this nice toasty comforter and I literally slept with that comforter all year long – even in eighty degrees. I loved my comforter for warmth but also for the weight of it. But alas the comforter started to lose it’s feathers and the fabric became so thin it was starting to tear. I would sew it up whenever that happened because I couldn’t bear to part with it – but then it just became a ridiculous exercise in futility. My new solution? I ran to the thrift store and purchased a very soft “broken in” quilt (not handmade) and at 50% off…

See Stuff for Their Potential – Tables to Shelving
When I go to thrift stores I look for items not just as they are but what their potential is. I saw this cute set of three tables and I just had to have them. I don’t have any need whatsoever for these small tables – but I do need more shelving in my craft room. As you can see I am working on them well into the evening! I wanted to see if I was okay with them the way they are or if I needed (or wanted) to put a bottom shelf. I will be putting a bottom shelf – so I will need to cut out a…

I Can Never Throw Things Out
At the campground we had a set of outdoor metal furniture – a large table, small table and several chairs. The weld on the larger table (legs) broke over the winter and my husband was throwing the large circle table out. I knew I had to do something with it. It isn’t too original but the kids love the height of the small table and we still really need the larger table top. Here is my solution – break the legs off, keep just the circle table top and for now – bolt it to the smaller table, make that into a larger table. No I am not going to…

Glamorized Boots Revisited
This is a project from the past but one of my favorite so far! Turning an old pair of black boots into glamorous designer style boots! My daughter loves her boots and she has many many pairs. She would literally wear them 24/7 – given the opportunity. As a result they get completely worn down to nothing but she won’t let me get rid of them. Here is the “before” photo of one pair (in my haste the left/right is not correct – but LOOK AT THEM – does it really matter). I assume you agree that these have seen better (much better) days. So, I “borrowed” them from her…

A Quick Halter Top for the Heat Wave
We are at the beginning of a heat wave at the moment and my kids are desperate for any relief they can get. This was an interesting project – I did this last summer also. Simply turn a tshirt into a halter top. You need a tshirt and scissors – no sewing involved. It takes five minutes (if that – she was being quite dramatic at the time so that added to the time). First you cut the sleeves off at an angle. Start at the bottom of the sleeves (cutting off the seam) and angle up towards the neckline ending within approximately 1/2 inch of the neck binding. Turn the…
