Music is so important to me and my family.  My husband and I did not grow up playing musical instruments – we never had lessons or anything because our focus had been on sports.   However, I always wanted lessons and really felt like I had missed out on something great.  But what I learned by having kids – you are never ever too old to learn something new.

The musical journey started with our two oldest children – I started taking guitar lessons with them when our oldest was 9.  We did that for several years but then our oldest started progressing so much faster than I could ever keep up.  At that point I became the singer while he played guitar – those are some of my fondest memories.  And now – he sings and plays and really should become a rich and famous musician – it is all about being in the right place at the right time though and that hasn’t happened.

Then our middle child came along and we both started taking piano lessons with her for a few years.  She never really grasped the love of playing but she did grasp the love of music.  She and I did however take dance lessons for three years – together we even entered competitions and earned plenty of trophies and medals.

And lastly we have our youngest two children.  My son is autistic and loves banging around on his ESP guitar (only the best).  Our daughter has a guitar but her interest is in piano so she and I are now taking piano lessons.  I am totally in heaven having this level of music back in my life.

However, beyond playing instruments and singing music has always been a huge part of our lives.  Music makes EVERYTHING better, and easier, and more fun.  It just does!
