Have you ever taken your children mining?  I have a couple times and their excitement is awesome to watch.  With this hands-on science kit the kids can experience anytime they want.  So far we have only used the pan with the kit.  But with the guide included and how often we head to rivers, streams, cliffs and waterfalls – we are sure to be taking the pan with us to see what we can find!  It is recommended for children up to age 12 but my son will be 14 in two weeks and loves it.  So perhaps your older child may too.
