IMUSA Wood Mortar and Pestle
This mortar and pestle is perfect for crushing fresh herbs and spices. This summer my mother in law planted herbs for the first time. We have never really cooked with fresh herbs but what a difference it makes! The flavors are so amazing when dealing with fresh. We will probably never go back to dried herbs if we can help it.
Mortars and Pestles have been used for thousands and thousands of years. My favorite use for my new gadget is to make quacamole. There is nothing better than fresh quacamole. However, a wooden mortar and pestle works best with dry foods and spices because the wood is absorbent to some extent.
To clean it I simply run it under warm water then with a damp sponge and a small amount of dish soap I wash to remove all traces then rinse with warm water again. Make sure it is fully dry before putting away!
