Camera Coats – Protect Your Equipment in Style

How Camera Coats Came to Be (by Emily Ashby)

A few years back we took a family trip. If you have kids you know how that is…bags, strollers, car seats, blah, blah… Since we were flying, our hands were especially full. I wanted to take my Nikon SLR, but did NOT need another bag to carry onto the plane and didn’t want to check my little bundle of joy. (Anyone nodding their head about now?:))

So, I went into problem solving mode. I had made a little fabric bag/holder/protector for my 6 year old’s video game and decided my camera was more important…so I threw my camera in it, put it in the diaper backpack, and off we went.

It was life changing I tell you. My camera was protected and I didn’t have to haul another bag around!

I kept that little cover on my camera (wearing it around my neck) as we went to the beach, the Magic Kingdom, and everywhere else. I was in love. My little “coat” protected my camera from the bumps of crowds, kids spills, sun, rain, snow, sand, and anything else that came my way.

As a blogger I need to have some way to take pictures with me at all times.  But even if I wasn’t a blogger – I am a mom who loves to capture the moment.  A professional photographer – just kidding, more than amateur but who knows if I would be categorized as intermediate.  I can easily do it with my cell phone but many times I want so much more than that type of an image.  Problem always has been the environments we go into.  This last summer we spent cliff climbing, waterfall crawling, river walking and hiking.  Not to mention all the amusement parks, water parks, zip lining, zoos and more.  It is very difficult to have a decent time trying to manage two special needs kids, all their stuff and then a large camera bag on top of it.  Most of the time I stick to a basic automatic lens anyway so this camera coat is perfect.  It is perfect for all the water activities we participate in as well as the long hikes we have had in the rain.  When I think about how wet my camera has gotten because I had no way to protect it when we were caught in the rain – it makes me cringe (yet thankful that it all worked out).  The camera coat allows me to keep it all safe!  This is the bag I have – DSLR Camera Bag for Disneyland – Geo Mod (Waterproof).   These bags would make a great gift for anyone on your list who has a camera.  The bags are available in the following sizes:  Standard, Large Standard, Short/Small Pro, Pro Size and Super Pro Size.  It is the perfect camera bag for women but there are also styles that are just as suited to men.  This is now my “go to” camera case.
