I have actually never seen the Legend of Zelda but I am very familiar with Ocarina’s and their sound is so peaceful and it is an instrument that is very portable.  My daughter and I play piano/keyboard, she plays recorder and my oldest son plays guitar.  But neither of them is able to be held in one hand and carried anywhere we go (except the recorder).  This is highly portable and a great way for young musicians to learn an instrument.  From a price perspective – just about any child can learn an instrument if they start with an ocarina.  Many schools have these instruments as their very first introductory lessons because they have a price point that allows them to be easily incorporated into a primary music program.

Now for TIP time – How can you keep your Ocarina safe?  They are definitely breakable so you want to take steps to protect them.  Here is your million dollar tip of the day.  Any time you see can cozies that are free from companies – grab as many as you can!  I use them for everything.  And they are stretchable, flexible and padded.  In this case I simply poked a hole through on end so my daughter can carry this ocarina by the string while it is still protected.  She just removes it when she wants to play it!
