I am always on the lookout for new and upcoming musicians and new pieces of work. Today I am bringing you Francesca Battistelli “Own It” Album!
Curb | Word Entertainment announces the long-awaited release from multi-award winning artist Francesca Battistelli. Titled Own It, the album is set to release October 26, 2018 and is the follow-up to 2014’s GRAMMY®-nominated album If We’re Honest featuring the GRAMMY-winning song “Holy Spirit.”
Who is Francesca Battistelli?
Francesca started as an independent artist and she began writing and performing original songs at age 15. Since her 2008 Gold-certified debut, My Paper Heart, Battistelli has propelled three consecutive studio projects to the top of Billboard’s Christian Albums chart and notched seven No. 1 radio singles, including multi-format, 15-week chart-topper “Holy Spirit.” She is a wife and mother of four and still finds a way to be a successful artist.
She was recently touted as an Artist on the Rise from YouTube Music and she co-wrote nine of the ten songs found on Own It with such songwriters as Matt Maher, Mia Fieldes, Jeff Pardo, Molly Reed, Ellie Holcomb, Seth Mosley and Josh Bronleewe, to name a few.
I love how Youtube has become a stepping stone for so many artists to create themselves, build themselves and realize their dreams.
About Own It
There are ten tracks on the “Own It” album:
- The Breakup Song
- The Very Best
- Love Somebody
- Royalty
- This Could Change Everything
- As Good As It Gets
- You Belong
- Let The Light In
- Defender (feat. Steffany Gretzinger)
- Freedom
I thoroughly love The Breakup Song. My daughter has moved back home with her three children and I see such growth and independence in her since she has moved home. No one needs to hold her down and she is learning that she is awesome without him. She had let him define who she was but now she is seeing that she is so much more.
My next favorite song is Let The Light In. This is very much for the same reason. It is possible to feel alone even when you aren’t alone. We all have to stop listening to the voices in our head – trust those that actually love you and let the light in. If someone is negative – you don’t need them. If you hear from one person you are not enough but from 20 others that you are amazing and doing a great job – trust the masses NOT the solitary person who is breaking you. Let the light in – and keep the darkness out!
I love all the songs on this album but the two listed above are those that resonate the most with what our daily life is like at the moment. They evoke such strong emotions at this time based on our experiences. But I seriously love all the songs and if it weren’t for our current situation I may find Freedom to be my favorite! It all depends on the day and what we are going through. There is alot of emotion in each of these songs.
This is what Francesca herself has to say “I thought I had a handle on what this album was going to be, but my husband and I prayed before every songwriting session, and God gave me a completely different set of songs than I was expecting,” Battistelli exclaims. “These songs are so empowering. What they represent to me is my desire to own my identity in Christ, to kick fear out of my life, to own the present moment and not live in the past or even the future. I don’t want to walk in half of what God has for me. I want to walk in all of it. I want to own it! And I want that for everyone who listens too.”
Genre
This album is considered Christian Pop music genre – and I love any kind of music but if you perhaps aren’t inclined to like it, I find it very much pop music and definitely not an overpowering christian theme. I am thrilled to have found Francesa and Own It. I can’t wait to hear more of her.

this is great stuff. I listened to her songs. I dig her.
I haven’t heard Francesca’s songs till date but loved getting to know more about her. I would be keen to hear her music 🙂
Love the song, such a great voice. Starting her singing carer at 15 speaks to her discipline and desire.
I would love to get a copy of this. This is right in my favorite genre!
She has an incredible voice. I wasn’t familiar with Francesca before but I can see why she would be considered an artist on the rise.
