Ultralight Hammock Straps
I have this awesome hammock (pictured above) but it came with just ropes and carabiners to hang the hammock. That never worked because we weren’t able to keep the rope tied tightly enough for the hammock to be safe. Plus even though the hammock was rated for 450 pounds – our knots definitely were not.
The kids constantly climb into the hammock together – it is a double wide hammock. We have the hammock strung to posts that exist beneath the 2nd and 3rd story decks. The straps only weigh about 12 ounces so there is no significant weight to them. Yet they are plenty strong enough to tightly secure the hammock as well as they are ten feet long so if we want to hang the hammock somewhere else we can easily do that.
When we go camping the ropes tend to damage the trees but these straps will not damage anything. We can leave the trees exactly as we found them – doing no harm. The straps are also rated for 500 pounds – now I am totally confident that the hammock can actually support the amount of weight it says it can.
These hammock straps are crucial for safe and appropriate use of our hammock.
