J-B Weld for All My Adhesive Needs @jbwelddiy

PlasticWeld is a specially formulated two-part adhesive and epoxy filler system that provides for strong, lasting repairs.  PlasticWeld will bond a variety of surfaces, such as metal, composites, fiberglass and others. PlasticWeld sets in 5 minutes at room temperature and is fully cured in 1 hour. Using a 1:1 mixing ratio, PlasticWeld combines to a tensile strength of 3200 PSI and cures to an off-white color.

 

J-B Weld’s PlasticWeld came in very handy today.  I made the kids each a bike rack so I can stop climbing over their bikes in the yard.

 

I made these simple bike stands and used the J-B Weld PlasticWeld Quick Setting Epoxy to “glue” it all together.  Now they can stand their bikes up anywhere.  They are individual stands versus a large stand – easy to pick up and go.  The Epoxy dried quickly but not so quickly that I didn’t have time to put it together.

 

To make these I used 1 inch PVC Pipe:

Instructions for one bike rack:

(6) 2 inch

(2) 23 1/8 inch

(4) 16 inch

(6) elbows

(4) T’s

 

The first thing I make is the upside down V uprights.  Then I piece it all together.  It goes together in minutes.  This design is not sturdy enough for a bike other than a 20 inch bike.  That is a different design but for the smaller bikes this is perfect.
