Last year I started doing some basic canning but have had a huge interest in stepping it up a bit.  Then along came the Ball® FreshTECH Automatic Home Canning System.  Now I can do just about anything!  It’s made with SmartPRESERVE™ technology, a suite of sensors that control the time and temperature needed to can popular Ball® recipes all on its own – recipes are pre-programmed in!

When I use my water bath canner I always feel like I am not waiting the right amount of time.  Then I worry – maybe it isn’t sealed properly… Keep in mind I am relatively new to canning.  But with what I have done so far no one has ever gotten sick and nothing ever tasted poorly.  It always tasted perfectly fresh.

To use you simply decide which recipe you are going to make and prep it all.  For example – for pickles start cutting them and preparing them.

I chose to cut some as spears and some as slices.  Then you put the jars into the auto canner – press the recipes number on the touchpad.  Then the canner chimes when the food has been perfectly preserved.  Recommended shelf life is up to a year.

I love that the base is safe to touch – even when in use.  I never know what my kids are going to touch or even our dogs.  They are an English Mastiff and a Newfoundland.  They don’t even have to jump to bump their nose on it.

This would make a great gift for a loved one who enjoys canning.  It will allow them to not be stuck hanging out at the stove while canning.  I can thrown my canning in, set it, walk away and go clean, blog, play – whatever I want.  Come back when it is done.  I am not tied to the kitchen.   What a difference that makes.
