Scrumptious Blueberry Muffins With Frozen Wild Blueberries #momsmeet #wildblueberryside
We camp in Maine 6 months per year (when we aren’t working etc…) and one of the things we absolutely love to do is pick Maine’s Wild Blueberries! They seem to be just about everywhere. We use them to make pancakes, muffins and so much more. Today I am bringing you a recipe with frozen wild blueberries (not exactly the correct season at this very moment).
Wild Blueberries are wildly different from the regular blueberries you normally find in the produce section. Don’t be fooled by their size—they pack more into their tiny blue bodies than any other blueberry on the planet! They have a more intense flavor than the blueberries you may be used to. Because they are grown naturally across fields they have complex flavors that include a mix of tart and sweet. They have 2x the antioxidant capacity of cultivated blueberries yielding great health benefits for gut health, diabetes, cancer and brain health. They are frozen as soon as they are harvested to preserve nutrition and taste. They are wild because they are not planted and have grown naturally in barrens and fields in Maine and Eastern Canada for 10,000 years.
The retail price for a 15-ounce bag of Wild Blueberries starts at $3.59. A 3-pound bag retails for about $10.
This wild blueberry recipe is for 24 muffins and they are a nice rich, moist muffin. I use this batter also for chocolate chip muffins which are my son’s favorite. But me… Anything and everything blueberry is a favorite for sure.
The sponsor would like bloggers to join the “Show us your Wild Blueberry Side” Recipe Contest! The challenge for bloggers is to create a unique, original recipe using Wild Blueberries. Here’s the catch—you’re encouraged to think outside the box of traditional baked goods. Think appetizers, lunch ideas, side dishes, and smoothies—let your imagination run wild! Be sure to take great photos of the entire process and finished product to post on your blog, along with the complete recipe and instructions. This contest is open to all bloggers and closes on May 17th!
The blogger with the most creative recipe will win a Vitamix® Blender, valued at $329! Five runners up will also be selected and awarded a $50 Whole Foods Market gift card. For full contest details, visit greenmomsmeet.com/wildblueberrycontest.
Now this particular recipe is a baked goods recipe but I will be submitting a recipe based on their guidelines for sure.
