Put Your Mind At Ease With The Mobicip Parental Control App
It’s no secret to anyone that the internet is a vast expanse of knowledge, entertainment and information. And the great thing about the internet is that there is never any danger of your children stumbling across something you don’t want them to see. Oh…wait. That is just not true. For a parent, that is the biggest worry about the internet. There is so much content out there that is not monitored, and it can be at best inappropriate, at worst extremely offensive and dangerous. But as a parent you cannot sit by your child’s side every time he or she goes on the internet – that would be a full-time job, and devices make it virtually impossible to monitor your child. So you can go for the next best thing – Mobicip.
Mobicip is a cloud-based parental control software that allows you to monitor and control internet usage on multiple platforms, including iOS and Android devices and Windows 7 or 8 computers. As a parent the aspect of Mobicip that I find most valuable is its customizability. I can set different levels of monitoring and filtering for different members of my family, and the levels of protection can be easily and quickly adjusted to make them stricter or looser depending on the needs at the time. Because I have two children with special needs – one with autism, and one with emotional disorders – it is extremely important to me that I am able to monitor their online usage and provide appropriate boundaries. But all parents will benefit from using Mobicip, whether your child has special needs or not. It is scary what your child can have access to.
So how does Mobicip work? It consists of an advanced cloud filter that allows parents to go through a simple online setup process to create parameters for internet browsing. This includes restricting and allowing certain websites, categories, or keywords. Once these are in place, it is easy to make adjustments instantly using mobile parental controls in the accompanying app. Individual sites, categories and keywords can be approved as needed.
Another great feature, especially if you have older teens, is a time-restriction that you can set up. If you have night-owls, you can make sure that they are not on the internet late into the night, and you can also set up blocked times when you want to reduce their screen time during the day. Another element, for older kids, is that you don’t necessarily have to set filters or restrictions, but you can see their browsing history in real time on your web dashboard or mobile app. This is great when you are helping your teens to develop appropriate web usage skills and want to monitor, if not restrict, what they are seeing. This gives parents the opportunity to discuss online choices based on real information.
Mobicip isn’t just for children, either. I have a friend who helps to care for an older friend who has had a brain tumor. This friend was active on the internet before her tumor, but now that her memory is compromised, the family is understandably reticent about allowing her back on the internet without supervision. I have recommended Mobicip to them to try out – I am anxious to see how it works out, because this is a great solution to their issue as well.
The program works so well because of “just-in-time” content filtering online. Instead of using static content management (based on what has been posted on a website previously) Mobicip is constantly reviewing and searching for specific keywords and content as a website is requested by its browser. Mobicip works just like Safari, allowing users to browse as they normally would. The multiplatform program works with Windows 7/8, and has additional power because it also works to monitor and manage apps on iOS or Android devices. Your child is covered wherever he or she is searching. Mobicip is extremely affordable as well. There is a free option that allows you to use preset filters and safe browsing. A paid option, for $39.99 per year, gives you the basic options as well as extensive reporting and customization. There is even an option for more than five devices that offers customized pricing. Mobicip is well worth the money you spend because it allows you to monitor your children’s activity as well as helping them to develop appropriate internet skills.
