This weekend was quite a learning experience for us. Our daughter has participated in some schooling shows but nothing prepared me for this Tri State show – a full competition with events over a three day period.
Sephora competed on Sunday with Toni. But the competition was just a part of the activities. She had to bathe Toni, Trim her and braid her mane (although Ericka braided it for her because she doesn’t know how yet). Cleaning tack – saddles, bridles, girth etc.. also happened on Saturday.
Late to bed Saturday night and early to rise on Sunday morning – 4:30am. Shower, braid hair, dress, decorate hair… Then get to the barn early enough to get all bedding out of the horse braids, brush them, feed them then onto the trailer and ready to roll…
Arrive at the show bright and early, unload the horses, tack them up. Wait til your turn then start warming them up and keep them warm while waiting for their turn. At show time work your hardest, listen to your coaches and always be safe – there are hundreds of horses and riders around and lots of people walking, cards driving etc…
After everyone has shown, pack it all up, load the trailers/horses and head home. Arriving back at the barn, put all tack away properly and take down all the braids. REST
Seph and Toni did a great job and the next Tri State is in July…
