Living Life With The Lunchbox
Ah the lunchbox! We pretty much live out of the lunchbox at times. Both of my kids bring their lunches to school. Although it is not quite back to school time, they both spend their summers at school also – so for them, lunchboxes all year long. That cannot happen with a bit of creativity and creating a balance in their bags.
My daughter always has the ultimate lunchbox! She loves her sandwiches – peanut butter and jelly, turkey, ham, peanut butter and fluff – you name it. Generally with her lunch I pack sliced cucumbers, sliced apples and mandarin oranges – lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Sometimes we mix it up with bananas, baby carrots, pears, peaches, mangoes etc…
How do we make the lunchbox PERFECT? With Nature’s Harvest® Bread and Entenmann’s® Little Bites™ and we are able to pick up these awesome foods at our local Walmart – no need to travel to any type of specialty store for great lunchbox items.
The lunchbox for us isn’t just about school lunches – or midday meals. It is truly a way of life. Once we are done at work and school, we head to the barn to take care of horse, ride horses, help out in the barn and do whatever. We can easily leave the house at 6:30 in the morning and no one returns home until 8:00 at night. If we don’t bring lunchboxes with us, we end up resorting to fast food and not only does that get expensive but there are really no good choices – or none that we would choose – at a fast food restaurant. And seriously – I would never be able to get the kids to leave the barn or skip the barn just to come home for supper.
How do we make those sandwiches exciting? We buy those large rubber handled cookie cutters – this particular one is a pumpkin. They work perfectly on something sandwich bread sized. Then the kids are always surprised by their shape of the day!
See how happy the shaped sandwiches make her?

I love making our lunches fun for the kids with those cookie cutters, too. It’s such a great way to change things up.
My kids love when we mix it up with fun flavors and shapes. You all keep a very active life, just like we do. It’s always nice to have healthy options on hand so you don’t have to give in to less healthier options. Good stuff!
I love that you used a cookie cutter to make shapes. That is such an easy way to make lunch more fun.
