  1. Ala Moana Beach Park. Near downtown Honolulu, this lovely beach park is a popular tourist attraction as it is located on the coast of the island. The beach is lovely with picturesque ocean views, soft sand, and a great jogging trail. If you have an interest in going for a run while on vacation, this would be a great place to do so. If you are not much into running, you can check out the shopping center that is close by. The Ala Moana Shopping Center was the largest mall in the US before the Mall of America opened. While it may no longer be the largest mall, it is all open-air and a great place to visit.
  2. Manoa Falls. For those who love to explore the outdoors and enjoy going for a hike, Manoa Falls will not disappoint. Be sure to wear comfortable hiking apparel as the hike is an hour long. While hiking, you will get to take in the peaceful tranquility that the rainforest has to offer. Keep in mind that this particular rainforest is one of the locations that was used for filming of the popular television show, LOST. Be prepared to take photos at the end of the hike or even while trekking through the rainforest terrain. You never know what you might stumble upon.
  3. Diamond Head. This is the iconic former volcano that is located on the eastern side of Waikiki. When people mention traveling to Honolulu, you can bet that they will stop and visit Diamond Head. The view of the beach is incredible from the top! Formerly used as a military base, Diamond Head is now open to the public for recreational use. Many hike to the summit which takes about 30 minutes to complete.
  4. Honolulu Zoo. If you are an animal lover, or you are traveling with people who are, you will want to visit the zoo. With 42 acres of land and over 900 animals, the zoo is a popular spot to experience unique wildlife that you may have never experienced before. Animals that live in a tropical environment are much different than those that live in mainland USA zoos.

Food. People rave over the food that Hawaii has to offer. From the local fresh fish to the fresh produce, there is an abundance of nutritious options for any pallet. You can visit Chinatown for some ethnic cuisine, or stop by one of the many open markets. If you are a foodie, be sure to check out Helena’s which is a well-known Hawaiian restaurant. If you are adventurous and want to try true Hawaiian fare, be sure to indulge in ordering kalua pig, poi, poke, loco moco, and SPAM musubi.
