The Year I Focus On Black and White – Photo a Day

A few years ago I decided to do a full year of “Photo a Day”.  I loved that project.  I did not miss one single day.  It was rewarding in so many ways – the focusing on anything and everything and all the related details.  That project taught me just how much I am missing by going through each day not noticing so much.  We all have so much on our minds – we need to take time and notice the rotting fence post; the steamy breath coming from a horses nostrils; the blade of grass with morning dew…  There is always a photo opportunity to be thankful for.

Well 2018 I decided to do a “Photo a Day” but in Black and White – that’s right a full year of Black and White photography.  Where did I get the inspiration?  Around the holidays there was a Facebook challenge that called for people to post a black and white photo for each of five days.  So many people joined in the fun and it was great seeing what caught peoples’ eyes.

Below are some of my favorite photos that I have posted so far since 1/1.  Most involve my horses – it only makes sense since the majority of any free time I have is spent caring for these gorgeous creatures.  I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I do.  On a side note – what camera am I using?  I am using either my Nikon J3; Nikon D5100; iPhone 6 Plus or iPhone X.

The black and white photo has indeed a great impact more than colored one especially if you would like to emphasize drama. Love your shots. You really know how to angle your camera and what needs to be given great detail.

You captured beautiful photos. Years back, i dont understand why some people find horses beautiful, but the more I stare at them, the more I understand why. Those things are hard to explain in words 🙂
